When a team works well, it can seem like everyone knows what the others are thinking. This is the height of good communication – no relationship friction, just streamlined communication. Good teamwork is easier to build around repeatable tasks than it is in the demanding, complex work environments we often find ourselves. So how do we smooth out those communication wrinkles that we find? How do we get worker X to get on with worker Y? How do we manage worker A better? How do we show worker B that we are on their side?

Communication is all we have to build and develop relationships yet we often stop developing our communication style as we grow older. We stick to being ‘ourselves’. If people get along then life is sweet. Productivity is high and team spirit is great. If people don’t get along then we rely on authority and expertise to get things done. In this case, productivity is usually lower and team spirit is dead.

This course explores the full range of communication styles, as defined by the DiSC toolkit*, and identifies how to achieve compatibility between the styles. This knowledge can be applied to any team and, when taken with DiSC profile reports, can build a reliable framework for communication that ensures everyone understands each other – no friction, no fuss, just good teamwork.
